Light, Magic, and Practical Tips
A nightly spectacle of light, projection, and spatialized music, AURA transforms the nave of Notre-Dame Basilica into a vibrant, immersive setting. For families, the experience promises shared wonder. Here are a few tips and information to help you and your children enjoy the event to the fullest.
Book Online
Purchase your tickets online. The 6:30 p.m. time slot helps avoid bedtime conflicts for younger children. Half-price admission fee for children under 6 years of age. If you bring a stroller, it must be foldable to pass through security.
Arrive Early
Use the side entrance reserved for electronic tickets. Staff are on hand to guide families to a free coat check where you can leave jackets and bags. For families with strollers, access is easy; there are only three steps to navigate.
Choose the Right Seats
You can sit in the second row, just behind the central aisle, which offers a clear view of the vaulted ceiling and a quick exit if needed. If you have toddlers, avoid seats near the organ, as the bass sounds may startle them.
Prepare Your Children
Provide soft earplugs (available at the ticket counter) if they are sensitive to loud sounds. Let them know the show includes light effectsand explain that there will be no dialogue or actors, AURA is a 45-minute visual poem accompanied by recorded choirs.
Spot the Art Around You
Before the show begins, take a moment to browse the illustrated brochure. A map of the vaulted ceiling helps older children identify saints, prophets, and floral motifs that will appear during the projection.
Exit With Patience
At the end of the show, wait a minute before standing up with your children, as the crowd will head either to the gift shop or the Old Port exit. If you are carrying a baby or have a stroller, use the side exit onto Saint-Sulpice Street, which is usually less crowded.
Extend the Experience
Scan the QR code on your ticket to access a Spotify playlist featuring the show’s original score. This can be a great opportunity to discuss the emotions felt during the event and keep the magic alive at home.
More Than a Multimedia Show
With a little preparation, the evening will become an unforgettable memory for you and your children. AURA is more than a multimedia show, it is a moment of shared wonder, where Notre-Dame Basilica, usually a place of contemplative silence, reminds us that its beauty is passed down from generation to generation.
